Agriculture Sector

Gülçin Farm Agriculture and Trade Inc. Agricultural sector, due to its provision of raw materials to industrial sector, the export revenues it generates and its being source of income for one-third of the population is an important part of Turkish economy. The 40% share in GNP of the agricultural sector in early years of the republic has currently regressed to 12%.

Despite this considerable decrease when compared with other developed countries, the share is still in high levels. Considering Turkey's geographical location it can be seen that approximately one-third of the country bears arable land (25 million hectares). Besides its arable land and water resources, our country also has a high agricultural potential with its climate conditions and ecology

Ahmet Veli Menger materialized one of his biggest ideals in 1965 and took the initial steps by emphasizing the significance of modern farming and husbandry of milk producing livestock for the economy of the country - a country blessed with rich agricultural resources.
The 7500 acres of land in Silivri at a distance of 70 km to Istanbul, formerly named as Köstemir Farm was purchased. This farm currently operates as Gülçin Çiftliği Ziraat ve Ticaret A.Ş. with its 5500 acres of land. The Trans European Motorway (E-6) went right through the middle of the farm and this caused a big leap in the land value. Gülçin Çiftliği Ziraat ve Ticaret A.Ş. with its professional staff who have adopted the vision of obtaining the highest efficiency and quality from its products continues operating emphatically.

The production is done by using the latest technology with environmental awareness. In the 2008-2009 season, a total of 3000 acres of sunflower, 1040 acres of wheat, 300 acres of barley and 100 acres of animal feed have been planted. Gülçin Çiftliği Ziraat ve Ticaret A.Ş. with its comprehensive future plans of organic-sustainable agriculture and modern farming is committed to hold a leading position in the Turkish agricultural sector.
